In 2008, Silmy Karim was appointed to the National PAB TNI Team to oversee the transfer of TNI’s business activities, ensuring compliance with Indonesian law. After successfully completing this task, he joined the Ministry of Defense in 2009, where he contributed to drafting Law No. 16 of 2012 on the Defense Industry. For his contributions, Silmy received the Bintang Dharma Pertahanan award from the Minister of Defense in 2014. He also served as a member of the Strategic Analyst Council at the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) in 2013. Transitioning to state-owned enterprises, he became the President Director of PT Pindad (Persero), PT Barata Indonesia (Persero), and PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk.
